Celebrity Fitness: Minka Kelly

We all know Minka Kelly best for her character as Lyla Garrity on the hit TV drama Friday Night Lights.  Since the show ended Minka has been seen in the TV shows like Charlie's Angels, Parenthood and most recently Almost Human. Like many stars Kelly has had to train her mind and body in order to maintain her sleek physique.  The star places emphasis in several interviews the importance of portion control and how that took time for her to achieve.  Below are a few more health tips from Minka Kelly that we can all benefit from!

Minka's health and fitness favorites include:

  • Yoga
  • Lunges and Squats
  • Love to run in order to clear her mind
  • Pressed juices
  • Water
  • Getting enough rest, she even sneaks in a half hour nap during the day when she can. 

A few of her lifestyle tips:

Don't Deprive Yourself: "If you don't let yourself have things you want, especially when it comes to something as simple as food, you'll fail and end up being less healthful. I try to be sensible and have egg whites and oatmeal for breakfast, a salad with protein for lunch, and fish and veggies at night. But once in a while, I have that cheeseburger and fries!"

Work Your Mind and Body:"I've been working out with [trainer] Gunnar Peterson and it's completely changed my body, my life, everything. I cannot live without it now. When you have such a good workout, it clears everything up mentally, physically, and you just have a better day." (Quote from 2011)
