NMF: What are 5 key ingredients everyone should have in their kitchen in order to create a healthy breakfast daily?
David Kirsch (DK): The five ingredients that everyone should have in the kitchen to make a healthy breakfast are: eggs, steel cut oatmeal, fresh fruits, plain low-fat Greek yogurt, gluten-free grain bread.
NMF: What are the healthiest dinner options for those that work late hours and looking for a satisfying meal at the end of the day?
DK: On late nights, I'll suggest having a salad with chicken or fish; alternatively, I'll make myself a protein shake and call it a day.
NMF: Can you share a few simple tips to revamp your kitchen? Ex.What are some ways to wean yourself off of sugar?
DK: I find the best way to wean yourself off sugar is substitute with some fresh fruit. For example, to get away from sugary fruit yogurts, opt for the plain yogurt and add some fresh berries. There's a lot less sugar and a lot more fiber. I've also used stevia and xylitol as healthy natural sugar substitutes.
