Fitness Files: Jill Dailey
I was able to test out a new Barre workout The Dailey Method. The workout is a full body workout that combines ballet barre work, core conditioning, yoga and orthopedic exercises designed to strengthen, tone and lengthen the entire body. There are currently over 60 studios and the company, which is based in San Francisco, is adding more franchise locations all the time! After working out side by side with the founder Jill Dailey I had to interview her for my Fitness Files!
NMF: Has fitness always been a major part of your life or was there a catalyst/point in your life when you made it more of a focus and priority?
Jill Dailey (JD): Movement was always a big part of my life but I didn’t necessarily call it fitness. It definitely took the point of developing and practicing the Dailey Method.
NMF: What are a few of your go-to healthy snacks/drinks that help keep you on the straight and narrow?
JD: Every morning I start with a mason jar of warm water, lemon juice, cayenne, and turmeric. I love this ritual and it makes me feel really good. I’m not a snacker, I do stick three meals a day, but green juice if I need something between breakfast and lunch
NMF: How do you train your mind and stay motivated?
JD: By always being a student. I love what I do but I also love learning more and more about movement and physiology and it inspires me to tweak or add to our repertoire.
NMF: How do you change your body? What are your fitness favorites?
JD: Do Dailey Method 4 times a week. There are barre classes for tone, definition and length, Cardiovascular options for your heart- and combined they make you incredibly strong and vibrant.
Dailey Fusion is my current favorite class. It’s a combination of our barre class and our interval. It’s a very well-rounded and challenging class.
