I basically put chia seeds in everything, I mean EVERYTHING. From salad to frozen yogurt I find chia seeds to be an easy way to sneak in nutrition no matter what I might be eating. There are a lot of benefits to including chia seeds into your regular diet. I have listed them below, I was surprised by some of the facts I discovered, even more of a reason to pile on the good stuff!
These teeny seeds pack a lot of nutritional value and easy to include in your diet. In one ounce you can get 11 grams of protein, 4 grams of fiber, a decent dose of Vitamin B3, B1 and B2 as well as Calcium. Additional benefits include protein, manganese, magnesium and phosphorus. They are high in antioxidants which help to fight free radicals that cause premature aging and have been proven to help fight against diseases like cancer.
Chia seeds also tend to make you feel full, which means you are less likely to over eat. How does this work? The fact the seeds have high absorption (the can absorb 10-12 times their water weight) they become gel-like and expand in your stomach.
Another added bonus, they keep your gut clean! Now who doesn't love a nice clean gut? Because chia seeds are high in fiber (40% of the seed is fiber) that helps to feed the friendly bacteria in your stomach keeping bad bacteria at bay.
According to Authority Nutrition chia seeds contain 14% protein which means you are able to incorporate even more benefits from these seeds. Protein helps aide in healthy weight loss by reducing cravings and put a stop to overeating.
