During the holidays it's easy to fall of the wagon and seriously overindulge. Each year I try to think of new ways that I can enjoy the holiday without completely depriving myself.
I started the day with teaching a 9:30AM Zumba class, I usually try to get a workout in everyday anyway but this really helped me to stay committed and not get sidetracked with holiday prep.
Since I was in charge of bringing the dessert, I had to hit the kitchen and start baking once I was done teaching. Keeping in mind that everyone is not a health nut, I wanted to make a dessert that was delicious and healthy. I opted for carrot cake by substituting some ingredients for healthier options and adding chica seeds and almonds inside.
Before heading out to celebrate Thanksgiving with the family I had a late lunch and drank plenty of water throughout the day to avoid over eating at dinner.
